2008-09 Wind Symphony

West Springfield Wind Symphony

The West Springfield Wind Symphony is the premier concert ensemble at West Springfield High School.  Membership is by audition only.  The band has received consistent superior ratings performing grade six literature, the most advanced in the Virginia Band and Orchestra Association’s music manual.  The Wind Symphony members are all required to be part of the Marching Spartans.  The Wind Symphony gives 6-8 concerts each school year performing a variety of literature from orchestral transcriptions to Broadway, film, and popular selections.  Recent guest artists and conductors have included Professor Dennis Zeisler of Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia, and composer Samuel R. Hazo.
